Camp Clearing

A large room in the cave. Little light trickles down from the hole in the ceiling of the cavern. Much of Darkclan's life takes place here where cats of all ages can share prey by the fresh kill pile as well as share tongues.

Echostar stretched as he made his way out of his den into the large cavern that was the camp clearing. A smile spread far across his face as he scanned the darkness.

Blacktooth sat in the Camp's Cavern, his dark pelt hiding him in the near darkness of an overhang's shadow. "Echostar?" He looked to the cavern entrance and saw his fox-like leader enter.

Echostar dipped his head to his friend and sat beside him, grinning. "Blacktooth, I thought I sensed a presence. How are you faring?"

"I fare well Echostar. And yourself?" Being a tom of few words, he didn't delve into his day. He would rather friends speak to him than to speak himself.

"Well I just woke up and the camp isn't burning down, so I'd say good", he smiled and blinked at Blacktooth.

Blacktooth nodded, and laughed very lightly. "True, it is a fine day so far." He stood up and looked at the camp. "It's empty, and quiet. Where is your daughter?"

"Good question. Maybe the nursery?" He began to stand to go check in on his daughter. Just then he felt a weight on his tail and sharp needles piercing it. His smile shrank a little, then he laughed "found her"

Blacktooth snickered slightly. "Hello Foxkit." He watched the young she-kit playing with her father's tail. "Good luck with that one. I'll bet she's going to be a feisty young warrior."

"Sure is, I'm surprised I didn't hear or see her coming." He licked his daughter on the head. Foxkit licked him back and started to make a new game of climbing on her father and licking him. Echostar looked over at Blacktooth, purring. "You really ought to get one of these" He looked up at his daughter who was trying to lick his head. "You'd be clean in no time"

Blacktooth laughed at the unexpected joke. "Well, if I can find a she-cat who would go for a tom like me, I'd like some." He stood and walked to Echostar. "I was going to suggest we go hunting, but I'm sure Foxkit here would like to go. Would you like to go for a walk with me? The both of you? I feel like getting out of camp for a little while." He was talking more than usual now, and laughing, but he didn't pay attention to that. He was entirely comfortable around Echostar and considered him his best friend.

He stood up and smiled "I'm up for it." He rubbed against Foxkit "Do you want to go on a walk?" Foxkit rubbed back against him. "I guess that's a yes. She's not much of a talker." He placed his steps well, as if to not step on Foxkit as she zigzagged as he walked towards the tunnel that led outside.

Blacktooth nodded and padded towards the beach.

Echostar stretched as he padded into the clearing from the nursery.

Blacktooth came back into the camp and lay down in a patch of light. He stretched out as he lay down.

Echostar twitched his whiskers, "You tired or something, Blacktooth?" He yawned himself and looked to his friend with a toothy grin.

Blacktooth looked up at his leader. "No, just relaxing." He had been wanting action lately, a border skirmish or something to get his blood flowing.

"I see" Echostar stretched. It had been really quiet around the camp lately and he wondered if the camp would become more lively in the future.

Blacktooth gazed around the clearing. "Perhaps we should go on a patrol, Echostar."

"Sounds like a fantastic idea!" Echostar perked up his ears and his grin grew larger.

Blacktooth grinned back. "Alright, where should we patrol? Near the IvyClan border? I bet those squirrel lovers have gotten close to our territory."

Echostar snickered "Thats true. Are you ready to leave now? I should go check on Foxkit before we leave."

Blacktooth nodded. He stayed in place, waiting for Echostar to return from the Nursery.

He rushed back from the nursery grinning. "Fast asleep. Shall we go?" Echostar headed towards the exit of the cave clearing.

Backtooth nodded once more. "I am ready. Where will we patrol?"
